Rules & Regulations

All persons attending this Championship, whether as spectators, competitors, officials or guests of the Organiser, shall be bound by the rules of the event and by participating, is deemed to have understood and accepted the rules and regulations.

The Organiser will not be held liable for any injuries sustained, damage, or loss suffered by competitors attending this event. Everyone participating does so at his or her own risk.

The Organiser will not entertain any claims of any nature whatsoever regarding financial or material benefits through publicity and/or broadcasting of the Championship or otherwise. All items pertaining to this Championship shall remain the sole rights of the Organiser.

The Organiser reserves the right to change the order of events without prior notice.

The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entries or admittance into the ballroom.

The Organiser reserves the right to change/cancel the competition and/or any event without prior notice.

The decisions of the adjudicators are final and no correspondence will be entertained.

All competitors must be present 3 events before their scheduled event. Any competitor who fails to appear at the scheduled time will be disqualified.

No change of dance partner is allowed in the same event.

In the Beginner events, competitors must dance specific figures up to Gold Syllabus.

Tailcoats are not allowed in the Beginner Standard events.

Competitors in the Beginners Events shall not qualify for any other events.

Competitors in the Professional events cannot participate in any other events with the exception of the Pro-Am and Teacher-Student events, provided it is with a different partner.

Overseas Amateur Open/Close competitors may compete in the Amateur Rising Star event, but rooms will not be provided.

Age limits as of the calendar year 2020 shall be as follows:
a. Juvenile Solo 7 years and below: Competitor must be 7 years and below.
b. Juvenile Solo 9 years and below: Competitor must be 9 years and below.
c. Juvenile Solo 12 years and below: Competitor must be 12 years and below.
d. Junior Solo 16 years and below: Competitor must be 16 years and below.
e. Juvenile 9 years and below: The older competitor must be 9 years and below.
f. Juvenile 12 years and below: The older competitor must be 12 years and below.
g. Junior: The older competitor must be between 13 - 16 years.
h. Youth: The older competitor must be between 17 - 21 years.
i. Adult Over 35:
Male competitor must be 35 years old and above. Female competitor must be 30 years old and above.
j. Adult Over 45:
Male competitor must be 45 years old and above. Female competitor must be 40 years old and above.
k.Adult Over 55:
Male competitor must be 55 years old and above. Female competitor must be 50 years old and above.
16. Age-limited competitors are allowed to participate in their category and 1 category above.
17. Photographs, videos and audio records may be taken of competitors and audience members. By attending, partcipants grant the Organisers full rights to use the resulting images and recordings without claims for payment or royalties. This may include (but is not limited to) printed and online publicity, social media, and press releases.
